Strain C5-4 (pf14::pHYDA2-PF14 mt+) is a spontaneous mutant strain selected from strain SP0106 C5. It has a constitutive swimming phenotype in aerobic conditions. A transposon TCR1 insertion in the 5’UTR sequence in one copy of the pHYDA2-PF14 plasmid construct caused cell motility. Expression of the PF14, HYDA1, HYDA2, and HYDG genes is upregulated.
