Phenotype: altered CO2 assimilation

This is an insertional mutation in the gene encoding glycolate dehydrogenase. The mutant requires high levels of CO2 for growth. Note that the gene is referred to in the paper as GDH, but this name had already been used in Chlamydomonas for glutamate dehydrogenase.

9/19/23 – Altered growth phenotype nor glycolate excretion at low C02 were observed by researchers at Carnegie Institution for Science.
