This mutation was induced by Davies in the 137c background, using nitrosoguanidine as mutagen. The mutant is UV-sensitive. Davies reported that it grows slowly and shows persistent segregation for small and large colony size. Small determined that it is slower than wild type at excision of thymidine dimers.
