From Laurens Mets, University of Chicago, November 1986

Phenotype: herbicide resistant (atrazine, bromacil)

This mutation in the psbA gene confers resistance to atrazine and bromacil. It was obtained by Mets and Galloway by mutagenesis of strain 2137 (see CC-3269) with 5-fluorodeoxyuridine plus ethyl methanesulfonate. The mutation alters amino acid 256 of the D1 protein from Gly to Asp.
