CC-2061 cr1 mt-
$30.00
Chlamydomonas Genetics Center, Duke University, 1986
Phenotype: cold sensitive on minimal medium
From CC-125 x CC-40 cr1 mt- (no longer in the collection)
The cr1 mutant in its original form is deficient in chloroplast ribosomes but accumulates 54S ribosomal subunits. It is a leaky acetate-requirer and is cold sensitive. With time, nearly all cr1 cultures acquire second-site mutations that reduce the accumulation of ribosomal subunit material. The ac20 mutation (see CC-43) is the best characterized of these; we don’t know if all the secondary mutations are ac20 alleles or if some are at different loci. It’s been a long time since this particular strain was tested for 54S accumulation.
Please see CC-41 for more information on cr1.
